How to Use Power GUARANTEES -- Even If You Offer Services

In order to make sales or get hired on or off the Internet,
people have to have TRUST. Guarantees -- even for professionals
offering services -- are a power technique for pulling
wavering prospects over the line to the sale/engagement.

What They Don't Believe When You Approach Them
-----------------------------------------
You need to understand that your prospects don't believe -- or have
serious doubts about -- one or more of the following:
1. YOU
They don't necessarily know you or trust that you are a person
(or company) of integrity. This is not about what you OFFER
but about WHO YOU ARE.
2. YOUR PRODUCTS OR SERVICES
They often doubt that your product or service will give
them the benefits you promise. They don't necessarily believe
that if I read this book or hire you as my lawyer/CPA/etc.
that I'll get my money's worth. More on this in a moment.
3. THEMSELVES
If your product or service requires ANY work on their part,
they often doubt that they will have the MOTIVATION and/or
the ABILITY to do what is required for as long as it is required.
(One of the things we teach professionals is how to offer clients
a step-by-step SYSTEM that makes achieving goals just a
matter of following directions. We offer them our own
professional practice-building system that isn't dependent on the
PERSONALITY of the professional but on strategies anyone
can easily do. You should do the same with what you offer,
although that's another article!).

What to Guarantee
-----------------------------------------
Your goal is to REVERSE THE RISK of people buying your
product or hiring you for your service. Think about it this way.
If you offer a money-back guarantee, who is taking the risk that
what you are selling people will not satisfy them? YOU are!!
If you don't offer a guarantee, THEY are having to buy something
sight unseen and if they aren't satisfied, too, too bad.
1. GUARANTEE SATISFACTION.
At the very least, you can guarantee that people will be satisfied.
What is "satisfaction"? It's in the eye of the beholder, just like
beauty! Don't worry about it. Don't try to put any limits on it
if it's a product. If they aren't satisfied, even if you think they
copied it, return their money and pray for their souls. They're
in trouble.
2. GUARANTEE RESULTS
If you're confident that what you offer will produce results
MOST of the time for people, then you can greatly strengthen
your guarantee to include results.
-- "If you don't lose 30 pounds in the next 60 days, I'll return
your money to you right away, no questions asked."
-- "If you don't save at least $12,000 from my tax avoidance
system, I'll return every penny you gave me."
Don't worry about the people who don't do anything to earn
it. I know some people require proof that customers actually
tried the system, but they are on shaky legal ground, at least
in the U.S..

What About Services?
-----------------------------------------
If you offer services that require your time, should you offer
a guarantee? It's one thing to take back a product -- you can
sell it again. But your time...you can't "resell" that. Here's
a few ideas:
1. YOU CAN STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD by
guaranteeing your services.
2. CREATE A PORTFOLIO of Products and Services
At the least, do what I teach professionals in our 6-Figure Practice
System and create a "portfolio" of products and services
that help clients as well as your direct services. There is a
very specific method of doing this so that it has integrity and
REALLY helps people. Then, guarantee the products.
3. TRIAL PERIOD or PHASED PAYMENT
Another smart thing you can do for a service is to offer clients
a period of time in which they can try your services and back
out if they want. Or STAGE YOUR WORK (phases)
and let clients pay for each stage. In seminars, offer people the
opportunity to attend one day of a three-day seminar and if they
don't like it they can leave and get their entire fee back.

Mixed Bag:: Editor's Ramblings
*Not complaining, yet, but no freepc.com computer sits on the
desk. I hope it shows up soon so I can tell you guys, what if
anything you are missing/avoiding.
*Thanks to the subscribers who told me that stragne characters
had started popping up in the text. Phil Tanny has pointed me in the
right direction and we will all know when we see the email if this
glitch is repaired.
*A third "get paid to surf" program has surfaced. You can see the
links below to investigate. Meanwhile, recruiting for AllAdvantage
is going well, and I am pleased some of you have decided to give
GoToWorld a shot. All three are free. None have paid money, but
they are growing like crazy, and I still believe in the business model
that cuts out the advertising delivery system middle man who says,
for example, pay me a gazillion dollars to show your ad because I
have lots of your target audience watching the SuperBowl. These
programs say they intend to pay ad dollars directly to the advertised.
We hope so. We will see soon enough.
*A tip of my hat to Ruth Townsend, who was recently accused of
using SPAM to promote her terrfic program, which I resell myself.
Her ISP gave her a bit of trouble, when in reality, she had done
nothing wrong. I KNOW HOW YOU FELT Ruth as I faced the
same this week, but nipped the false accusation in the bud, so no
harm done.

Creating Powerful & Effective Headlines

No matter what you are advertising, you need to have a
Powerful & Effective Headline. You MUST capture the
reader's Attention. Isn't that why you are reading this
article?? My headline captured your attention & caused
you to want to know more about creating headlines.
An effective headline will capture the reader's attention
and create a desire to continue reading the ad, sales
letter or message. Because of this, your headline is
the most important part of your message. You will never
get anyone to read your message if your headline does not
drive them to do so. You may have written the most awesome
sales letter or ad copy ever written, but it will produce
nothing if your headline does not capture the reader's
Interest & Desire to act.
Your headline should also state a benefit that the reader
can expect to receive from your product or service. It is
the benefits that cause a person to buy a product or
service or even join an organization. Most of what we do
is determined by the benefits we will get.
You do not need any special talents, skills or experience to
write powerful & effective headlines. Anyone can learn to
do this by following a few simple steps & using some Power
Words.
The most used and best Power Words are:
Fast, Free, Easy, Proven, Guaranteed, Discover, How to,
Save, Increase, You, Your, Secret, More, 50% (any percent),

Each of these headlines contain one or more of the Power Words
and states a benefit you can expect to get from the product or
service that is being offered.
Let's start creating your Powerful & Effective Headline.
(Be sure to write out each step - the act of writing down what
you are doing is very powerful and will help you stay on course.)
First, determine your audience. Who do you want to read your
ad, sales letter, article or message? This is your target
market - the people that will benefit most and be most interested
in your product or service.
Second, write down what makes your product or service valuable
to your target market. What benefits will they get from it.
Third, since your ad, sales letter, article or message will be
read by individual people, try to imagine one single person that
is part of your target market and will be reading your message
and be interested in your product or service. Continue writing
your headline and ad with this one person in mind. Write as if
you are talking to him/her.
Fourth, choose the most valuable benefits this person will receive
from your product or service. Narrow the list to one or two benefits. Now
write out a list of as many one line sentences that you can
think of about each benefit.
(Be sure to use some Power Words from above).
Fifth, Select the one most powerful statement from each list of
sentences you just created.
Sixth, Now, if possible, combine your most powerful statements into
one sentence, or you can select the best powerful statement from
all of your lists.
You have just created your first Powerful & Effective headline.
Your headline will now capture your reader's attention and interest
and will drive him/her to read your ad, sales letter, article or message.
Use these simple and easy steps each and every time you want
and need to create an Effective headline.
