8 Reasons why your site is not getting sales:

Ok, you've got your webpage up and running and you have
submitted your site to the search engines, now it is time
to MAKE THAT MONEY! Right? Well then how come the virtual
cash register has that hollow ring to it every time you
open it? Your site is not making sales and there are at
least 8 reasons why and 8 things you can do to
immediately change anything that you are doing wrong.
1.You have relied on a passive promotion strategy to get
the word out about your site. Most people think that by
the virtue of them putting up a website that tons and tons
of visitors are going to flock to their site with cash in
hand practically begging to buy your products or services.
Sorry,a passive marketing strategy will bring you in either
a trickle of sales or absolutely no sales at all. While a
person who relies on active marketing does not wait for
visitors to come to them, they do everything in their power
to bring targeted visitors to their site. Active marketers
utilize tools such as E-zine advertising and submitting
articles to targeted e-zines in order to draw traffic to
their site. They will also use Free publicity such as press
releases in order to really get the word out about their
site to an audience that cares.
2. You do not offer a simple and secure method of online
ordering or accept differing forms of payment.
This could be easily solved by getting set up with a
merchant account company that allows you to accept all
major credit cards as well as checks online and direct
bank debit and incorporates this into a seamless secure
website. The best company for this in my opinion is

3. You do not have a method of capturing your prospects
names and email addresses when they visit your site.
Get this set up immediately and start building your
mailing list of interested prospects. You see people are
stopping by your website and looking around but this does
not mean that they are going to buy today at that moment.
People have many other obligations that may prevent them
from buying at that moment, what you need to do is give
them a reason to return to your site in the near future.
The best way to do this is to offer a mailing list that
people can subscribe to either a newsletter about a topic
that interests your audience or even a small tips page that
sends people interesting and useful information related to
the topic of your website. When you have built up your list
to over a few 100 people or so, then you can begin to send
commercial information regarding the services and products
you offer. As long as you are offering quality information
for free, your audience will develop a good relationship
with you and trust your offerings more than if they had
never heard of you before.
4. You do not have an alternative method of contact for
people to get ahold of you.
I get email all day long from people asking for my phone
number, it is listed right on the site, however, people
will often use the method of contact that they prefer the
most. Fair enough, offer them as many different ways of
contacting (and ordering) from you and you will attract
more and more prospects.
5. You only advertise online.
Big mistake. There are millions of people offline that
might be interested in your site and your information.
They are often more likely to order immediately than
someone who surfs the web regularly and who knows they
can always "come back sometime in the future"
One of the best ways to reach an audience and bring them
to your site is to put your url and your email address on
every piece of correspondence that you send out. I know of
one person who adds his url to every bill he sends out in
the hopes that someone will visit or maybe a few people.
It is unique and creative & may work, you never know. What
will work however is getting your ad onto a card deck that
interested people would see. A card deck is a great way to
spread the word about your site to many interested
prospects who otherwise may not have the chance to find out
about you. The best card deck I have ever advertised in is

6. You do not rely on the power of Joint Ventures to get
the word out about your products and services.
Joint Venture endorsements have the power to bring in more
visitors and sales to your site than any other method I
know of. A joint venture endorsement is when a person with
a huge mailing list recommends a particular product to the
list. This has the ability to pull in more sales as the
people on that mailing list have developed a relationship
with the list owner. They trust him. He "endorses" your
products or services in his own words and so they transfer
that trust to you. If you have ever heard radio shows like
Rush Limbaugh or Howard Stern you will notice that the ads
that receive the most response are the ones that these disk
jockeys read themselves and almost make a part of their
"shtick". They are in effect "endorsing a product". This is
one of the most powerful marketing methods ever invented.
7. You do not follow up when people ask you for more
information.
Huge mistake. That person has raised their hand and said I
am interested in what you have to sell. Statistics show that
people need to be exposed to your message at least 7 times
before they will respond. Sending one email explaining your
product is not good enough. Keep sending info and inquiring
if they have any other questions. Ask politely but firmly,
if people ask you to stop "bothering" them, by all means do
but always, always follow up! A great idea is to automate
all of your follow-up by utilizing autoresponders.
8. You do not have a turnkey product.
Let's face it. Many people want a business that they can
step into and run in their spare time. They do not want to
write their own sales material (i.e. sales letters and ads),
they do not want to worry about learning HTML or FrontPage
and building their own website. They do not want to
manually process credit card sales. They want a complete
solution that they can purchase and set up and have running
in less than a week or two. I learned this through a
product that I have sold for over a year. It is a book
distributorship that many people have bought and been very
successful with themselves. However, one question kept
coming up from different customers or prospects, how can I
have a website just like yours? Can I use your sales
material, it is great (most of them like the letter because
it caused them to purchase). We used to avoid these types
of questions but then one thing became apparent: we were
turning away business! We put together an offer where our
customers could license our sales material for a small fee
and they could use it on or offline, this could function as
their website and we would set them up with a merchant
account to process orders. The results have been

Mixed Bag:: Editor's Ramblings
*Encouraging words from Jim Jorgensen of AllAdvantage this week:
"With over 1.8 million members in its first 100 days AllAdvantage.com
continues to be the fastest growing community in Internet history.
We are making headway in all areas. Sponsorship revenue is ahead of
schedule, and membership continues to soar. In June, three months

1. Viewbar Release Schedule
Our June release of the Viewbar to our members was very successful.

until all members are activated.
2. Monthly Hours Increase From 10 To 15
We are raising our $.50 hourly payment US plan for surfing the Web from

sponsorship revenue at the same accelerated pace, in order to reach
40 monthly hours of paid time. With advertisers coming on board faster
than projected, we are increasing the hours already.

benefits that become tailored for each of our members. In turn, it is

3. International Member News
This month we will announce the payment rates for Canada and the UK. We
will try to release Viewbars to international members with activated US

4. Rewarding Referrals
We have launched a new program this month, designed to reward the

INCREASE YOUR SALES AND PROFITS WITH A

Did you ever buy something you didn't really want because
the bonus you received was worth the price you paid? I did
it this week.
Several days ago I received an offer in the mail from a
leading business magazine. Only one paragraph in the two
page letter mentioned the benefits I'd gain by reading the
magazine. Instead, it promoted the "perfect book for
entrepreneurs" I'd get free by subscribing. The letter even
enhanced the offer by guaranteeing a full refund of the
entire subscription fee if at anytime during the coming year
I didn't like the magazine. The free book alone was worth
the subscription fee. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. I
subscribed.
ALWAYS INCLUDE AN OFFER IN YOUR ADVERTISING
An irresistible offer is the number one reason why people
buy something. Anytime you want to dramatically increase the
response to your advertising, dramatically improve your
offer. Many small businesses don't always include an offer
in their advertising. This is a costly mistake because it
doesn't provide a reason for prospective customers to
respond. The best way to get a response to your advertising
is to make an offer your prospects can't refuse.
Your initial offer doesn't have to generate sales. It can
generate leads or traffic to your business or website. An
offer to generate leads or traffic requires you to develop
another offer to convert those leads into customers.
Developing two different offers is more work but it usually
produces the maximum number of sales at the lowest cost per
sale.
HOW TO DEVELOP AN OFFER
I've used the following 4 step procedure many times to
create powerful offers. It's simple and easy to follow. Even
someone without special talent, skill or previous experience
can use it to create a powerful offer.
STEP #1: Select one product or service to promote in your
offer. If you sell a variety of products or services select
only one to feature in your offer.
STEP #2: Decide what specific action you want from prospects
or customers who receive your offer. For example, do you
want them to call or write to you for more information? Do
you want them to visit your website? Do you want them to
come into your store? Do you want them to call for an
estimate?
STEP #3: Make your best offer. Make it as attractive as you
can afford. A discount plus a free bonus will generate more
responses than a discount alone. A discount plus a free
bonus and a money back guarantee will generate an even
greater number of responses.
STEP #4: Calculate the profitability of your offer. Don't
forget to include the cost of advertising. A thin profit
from your initial offer may be acceptable if you know it
will generate repeat business. Otherwise, revise your offer.
**SUGGESTION: Sometimes you can increase your profit and the
benefit to your customer at the same time. Simply add a low-
cost bonus item with high perceived value and increase the
price to the level required to produce the profit you need.
Always include an offer in your advertising. It's the
primary reason why people buy something. Use this simple 4
step procedure to develop your offer and watch how fast your
sales and profits increase.
