"marketing hero" or a "marketing zero".
Learn how to put some walk into your marketing

If you can truly understand the above quote, you will be
dangerous. By
the time you finish this article, you'll know what I mean.
Let's jump right in to the quiz. Select
"yes" or "no" for each of the below statements based on whether or not
it applies to you:
1. I have never in my life made a marketing mistake.
In other words,
every piece of marketing I produce is perfect from square one.
Yes?
Or No?
That's it. The quiz is over. Pretty high tech, huh?
Now, please follow
these grading instructions.
If you answered "yes", you are either not being
honest with yourself or
are a super-genius. In either case, I can't help you. Stop reading now!
If you answered "no", guess what? You're a
marketing zero!
Congratulations. You have just joined an exclusive club which includes
me and just about anyone else who has taken a risk or two in the name
of marketing. Read on, friend. I like honest folks like you and can offer
some help.
Now, you may not get the point of all this yet. Here
are two more clues.
I will share with you two actual quotes from associates of mine:
"Internet Marketing doesn't work. I know this for a
fact because I tried it
once and I didn't make any money."
-- Nameless Fool #1
"Radio marketing stinks. I ran an ad on a local station once and had a
negative ROI."
-- Nameless Boob #2
Have you figured it out yet? OK, if not, I'll spell it out:
Great marketing isn't a single attempt - it's a process.
The two
nameless morons above (who are dear friends of mine, by the way) simply
gave up after one try. I can't imagine where my business would be today
if I had been so easily discouraged.
Let's look at that quote from Edward John Phelps again:
``The man who makes no mistakes does not usually make
anything.'
The unwritten prologue to just about every great success
story is an epic
of failure. The process of failing, refining, and trying again is the magic
formula for marketing success.
So, to begin writing your own success story immediately,
use the following formula:
1. Every time you begin a new marketing campaign,
give it a special name
or a code. This will help you keep track of your different campaigns.
2. Keep a spread sheet of your marketing campaigns
and program it to
calculate your results. (If you don't want to fuss with programming a
spread sheet, get Swiss Army App for Webmasters. The download is

The Enterprise
version includes a Marketing Campaign Analyzer which will allow you
to easily track all of your results as well as a boat load of other
immensely useful features.)
3. When a campaign fails, make small changes to it
and try again.
4. Over time, refine your approach based on your
findings from your tests.
Now, it's not quite this simple as you will see when you
begin your
testing, but this is the basic process. The key is to get started with
the testing process.
When you follow this formula faithfully and consistently, I
promise you
will be successful. If not, write to let me know about your experience
(detailing how you followed the above formula for at least 3 months
and still failed) and I'll personally take you out to lunch.

Mixed Bag:: Editor's Ramblings
*First of all, I want to thank you for your kind words regarding the
death of my (10 year old) puppy. I knew some of you would
understand, just didn't expect your thoughtfulness. I promise to
never UNDER-estimate your concern and support again.
*Did you miss out on getting a free PC (like mine) from
http://www.free-pc.com ? Well, seems the
program has been
a success so far. In addition to the 10,000 original beta users,
they will be adding 5,000 per month over the next few months.
If you didn't get one then, when I told you about it, you can try
again now. This program is even spreading to include you Mac
fans. http://www.freemac.com (about 1 Million
Macs available.)
*It figures! Just as I start to complain about the AllAdvantage
"viewbar" which delivers some pretty interesting ads which
advertisers pay me to look at, they fix it. The next time I logged
on, I was asked to update my software, and poof, the problems
I had are gone. That is great. What is better? The fact that NOW
whether or not you have gotten the letter telling you that you can
get the veiwbar (which lets you start to get paid while online), YOU
should be able to download and use the software immediately.
IF you are one of the folks that joined through our mention of the
program here, PLEASE get your software and start cashing in.
Unfortunately, this applies primarily to US residents at this time.
You just need to log in, using your ID and password, as if you
were checking your referrals. Once there you should see a hot-
link that lets you download the software. Installation was easy,
I am even MORE enthusiastic about this program than every before.

I advertise in business newsgroups mainly. Most of those
you can post outright sales letters in with no problem.
I push it and test unrelated groups. I single out some
every week that it's okay to post my "free reports" in.
That's another powerful reason I don't get flamed.
I try my best to provide value in the form of Special
Reports! My sales message is embedded within the report
or at the end! Newsgroups as they exist NOW are a ripe
Gold Mine for ANYONE WHO WILL GIVE VALUE FIRST...
usually in the form of information reports! In business
newsgroups you will stand out from all the foolish scams
being advertised. You'll have little competition!
A single report posted on a few newsgroups has brought
in over 700 leads a week for me recently. That's the
difference between giving value and trying to force your
message down your prospects throat.
When people like you, they buy from you, and the
newsgroups have millions of people that can read your
messages every day. In some ways I think it's better
than direct e-mail. Create many different powerful
reports or short articles and post them in as many places
as you can. Test placing in more and more newsgroups
everyday.
If you get flamed - delete the newsgroup from your
'okay to post in' list!
Soon, you'll have a few hundred you can post in without
problems. You can pull down some serious money this way.
Million dollar companies are quietly being created on the
newsgroups right now. Front Porch Computers built a 10
Million A Year business from answering questions and having
powerful sig files attached at the end of every message!
The contacts I have made and offers that have come out of
the blue have been unbelievable and profitable beyond what
I expected. A single contact from someone could earn you a
fortune. I've had some great deals offered to me without
even asking. Also made some great lifetime friends!
You can post to newsgroups anonymously if you need to.
Have orders come in by fax or mail! This way, it's almost
impossible to discover your real e-mail address. You can
market this way without ever getting flamed or losing your
internet service!
