big long URL in to see what is offered? Shucks, that
URL doesn't even fit in one line. Will you really
bother to get it all in there?

I do not blame the affiliate folks. They have to have
all that gobblygook in there to track and pay you. I
blame you, the affiliate. Your link is showing.

What happens if you follow this real link?
If you want to add 15 cents to your pocket each time
a person on your site refers it to another, and you
like the services offered, I get another affiliate,
and you start earning more from your web site.
Why? Because I have disguised my link. It is not
immediately obvious where this link goes without
following it. Once you are at the site, the second
rule for affiliate links kicks in.
Once you are on the site, you are much less likely to
try to add just the stem of the URL and come back.
Once you are there, you are more likely to consider
the proposition, whatever it is, and join or not.
Many affiliate sites will also add a little cookie to
visitors following your link, so you get credit, even
when the visitor clicks away for whatever reason and
returns later.
Get them there, and you probably will get them if the
program appeals to them. Just don't show them where
they are going ahead of time.
How?
You are going to have to create a new page in your
web site that invisibly catches and forwards your
interested visitor on to the proper page. This page
will have an immediate refresh rate so that as soon as
your visitor arrives, he/she is moved onto your
affiliate link. You will need to make a new page for
each affiliate program you are promoting.
What is the process?
Get out a blank web page, and let's make a link for
the We're Crazy.com offer. Remember the link you were
given to promote?

Just a minute, we can improve its appearance and the
ad's pulling power with a little HTML makeup.
Let's assume you are working with a free page. Why?
Do you know how many sales that is costing you every
day? Wait, that's another article. Sorry.
Let's say YOUR free page web site starts at:
http://www.thereisnodomainbythisname.com/toolong/index
Here is the code from top to bottom you would use to
make a redirect page called "millions" for this deal.
From here on, you can promote your new affiliate deal
with this URL:
Hmmm. That is still pretty long, but at least it is
all yours. When you can get your own domain, you can
use the same technique for a page located at:
http://www.yourdomain.com/millions.html
In the meantime, no one interested in your offer will
know where they are going BEFORE they arrive at your
target, or affiliate URL, and Rule #2 kicks in.
That is better. If you promote LOTS of programs, you
may want to make a whole subdirectory of pages like
this. Name the directory af, for example. Now your
link will look like this.
http://www.yourdomain.com/af/millions.htm
Show me the code. OK. Here it is from top to bottom
for the hypothetical (if you know of a program like
this please contact me immediately) affiliate program.
After all, everyone can always use another million,
especially if it is tax-free.
The code to cut and paste into your practice page
looks like this (between the plus signs):
That's it. Now folks, you should know that when you
create this page, you will really want to have your
affiliate link, in all of its 66 character glory, all
on one line.
What will this page "look" like? Nothing. It will be
a blank page, but if you or anyone else hits this page
the refresh=0 part of this HTML code will put them
into a position to get the tax-free million bucks, in
a blink of an eye.
Use this technique. You will find more affiliate sales
from the same amount of traffic. Promise.

Hello Chris,
I have emailed you before concerning AllAdvantage.
I read in your recent newsletter about contacting webmasters
that you have come in contact with to try to get them
to join AllAdvantage.
Do you have a certain approach that you use? Do you email
them first and ask them if they would be interested in hearing
about a great money making opportunity?
I would think you would have to be careful not to mention it by
name in your first email to them so you can not be accused of
spamming.
I have a couple of people that I have corresponded with in the
past that I am thinking of contacting. But, I would like to know
what your opinion is concerning the correct approach.

Dear Mary,
You are right. You could get in trouble with both the webmaster
and AllAdvanatage if you send an email that says, "I know how you
can make lots of money. Do you want to know how?" Or, worse yet,
"Did you know you could be making a killing by joining AllAdvanatge,
here is my ID#" That would be the kiss of death, both for any
relationship and for an AllAdvantage partnership.
I am usually already in contact with them for some other reason. This
makes it easy to mention AllAdvantage in trading emails.
My first approach, if I am making a "cold" approach is to find
something I really like about the site and make a complimentary
statement about it. Often they will mail back a personal thanks.
Now I have a relationship with them. Now I can ask something like,
I am curious, with your traffic, why aren't you promoting AllAdvantage?
After several email messages, if I keep the "sales" pitch volume low,
I have a new partner.

Thought I was a BIG fish until I visited the exclusive AllAdvantage Plus

How To Avoid Key Online Business Mistakes.

Do you have an online business that is not performing as
well as you would like it to? If so, you could be making one
or more of the following online business mistakes. Let's
look at each one and ways they can be avoided or rectified.
1. Being too caught up in the hype and excitement of getting
rich quickly.
This can be a very discouraging mistake. The lure of easy
money and instant riches leads to hasty actions and poorly
thought out strategies for success. When success is not
instant, discouragement sets in and the business person
quits or moves onto another venture without learning from
their experience.
To avoid this mistake, you need to stand back from the hype
and excitement and realize that the only way to get rich on
the Internet is to work hard. Study successful web sites and
Internet business models to see what they are doing that
works. Then consider how you can use this knowledge in your
own business.
2. Impatience for success (or not knowing how success is
achieved)
A key factor causing online business failure is being
impatient for success. This usually means that the business
owner does not know how success is achieved within the
business they are in. Due to impatience, research is not
conducted and time and money is spent on fruitless
activities.
In each business, there is a process involved in making
money. In simplest terms, you need a continuing supply of
prospects, a product or service they are prepared to buy at
a price they are willing to pay, a way of providing this
product or service in a timely and satisfying manner to the
client, and to be able to run your business process at a
profit.
Make sure you know your business and how money is made. Then
concentrate on the activities that will give you the
greatest success.
3. Failing to determine who your target market is
This takes one of two forms: "everyone will want to buy what
I am offering" or "I know they are out there somewhere - I
hope they will find me". In either case, the end result is
ineffective promotion and advertising of the business.
Significant time and money is wasted on promotion that does
not reach the potential customers.
In every business, a profile can be developed of the likely
people who will buy the product or service. When you
understand the best targets of your offer, you are then in a
strong position to concentrate your marketing efforts on
reaching them. This will be more profitable than trying to
market to the whole world!
4. Going for the "big bang" instead of testing
This can be described best as rolling out a full advertising
campaign without having tested the see whether the ad works.
The ad variables have not been identified and tested. The
result again is usually significant disappointment with the
results and wasted time and money.
Always test and fine-tune your efforts. To jump into a major
marketing campaign with a significant budget without testing
is a sure-fire way to financial disaster. Test and be sure.
Change ad headlines, wordings, offers, etc., until you know
you have your best chance of success. Test everything -
including the target market your ad or campaign is aimed at.
5. SPAM!
Don't get caught up in the lure of easy money through
sending millions of emails to people who did not request
them. The normal thinking in this process is that if 1% of
people respond to my offer then I'll be very rich. However,
your ISP will close you down, denying you access to the
Internet, your web site and email is bombed, and you are
published as a spammer and people are discouraged from doing
business with you.
This is not the way that a professional conducts business. A
professional is in business for the long run and is keen to
develop relationships with prospects and clients. SPAM will
NOT enable you to achieve long term business success.
6. Conclusion
Always remember that long term business success requires
hard work, an ethical and professional approach, knowledge
of your market, a success system that works, and flexibility
to test and change and grow. To be successful online is no
different. Master the basics of online marketing and you
will see your business grow for long term business success!
