that discussed how difficult it was to GIVE AWAY hundred dollar
bills? After a promotion that has been running for several
months now, X.com may understand how hard that is too. They are
the bank giving US citizens $20 free just to open a bank
account. I recall jokes when I was a child in the 1960s about
banks giving away a toaster or whatever. The funny thing was
that banks knew they could recover that cost by fees charged
later. There is no joke about X.com because there are no fees
being deducted. The ONLY transaction in MY account that did not
relate directly to referrals (where I am given $10 for each new
member) is a DEPOSIT of $.05 to my account for interest for the
first month. I have mentioned this service before, and told you
it would be limited. My understanding is that X.com has grown to
be the biggest online bank. They do not need to pay to get any
bigger and so YOU have until 2/18/00 to get YOUR free account,

How to Easily Increase Your Affiliate Commissions
in Two Days or Less

Clearly, the people benefiting the most from affiliate programs
are the companies running them. My goal here is to help you -
the affiliate - earn more money. If you've gotten past the idea
that you can simply slap a banner up on your site and start
earning money, but you're not sure what to do next, this article
is for you.
Allow me to cut right to the chase. Here is a plan of action.
This may seem like a lot of work, but don't worry! At the very
end, I'll show you how to automate all of these steps. For now,
just read through to get a general idea of how you need to
proceed:
**Day 1**
Step 1- Vow to organize your affiliate efforts. Begin with
organizing all contact information, payment information, and
vital statistics about your affiliate programs in one central
location. This may seem like a silly step, but believe me; you
don't want to spend your time digging through emails for contact
information and codes. You should also know, with just a few
mouse clicks, how much is owed you by the various affiliate
programs in which you are participating.
Step 2 - Select one affiliate program on which to focus your
efforts for the next 3 weeks. In order to apply some of the
various principles I will show you in a few moments, you need to
select one area of focus. It's best to select an affiliate
program that has several products, instant online tracking of
sales, instant notification of sales, and the ability to segment
your promotions. Internet Marketing ProShop has all of this and
more:
Step 3 - Select three promotion methods and two products to
promote.
This is crucial. This will make sense in a few moments. If you
can't think of three promotion methods, here are a few ideas:
An ad in someone else's eZine A mailing to your own subscription
list A text link on your site with some ad copy A banner on your
site A product review on your site An FFA submission
Now, some of these methods are more effective than others. But
you don't need me to tell you that. I'll show you how to find
out for yourself.
Step 4 - For each promotion method and each product, develop two
ads. So, since you have three promotion methods, two products,
and two ads for each - you will have to write 12 ads total. So,
for each ad, let's give it a code. If it's method one, product
one, ad one, you can call it:
M1P1A1
For method one, product one, ad two, you can call it:
M1P1A2
For example, if you plan to promote my marketing course 1,001
Killer Internet Marketing Tactics using ads in someone else's
eZine, you will need two ads. One would be M1P1A1, and the
other would be M1P1A2. If you also plan to promote it using a
review on your site, the first review would be M2P1A1 (method 2,
product 1, ad 1) and the second would be M2P1A2 (method 2,
product 1, ad 2). This is just one way to code your ads. You
can do this any way you like as long as you can distinguish
precisely which campaign these codes refer to.
This sounds like a lot of writing. Don't be daunted by this!
Just crank it out. Don't think too much about each ad. We'll
find out in a while which one is good and which one is bad. You
won't decide this - your customers will! Don't be afraid to try
something wild.
Now, when you promote each product, you'll need to tie each
promotion to the code you created. With the Internet Marketing
ProShop Partner program, you can segment your campaigns by
adding an _code to the end of the URL you use to promote each
product.
For example, if you are promoting 1,001 Killer Internet
Marketing Tactics, you would use this URL:
..../kt.cgi?sponsorID
To segment your campaigns, you would add your campaign code on
the end of that URL for each campaign:
Note: The above method is only valid for our affiliate program,
so don't try this with any other affiliate program. We don't
know of any other affiliate programs that allow you to segment
your campaigns, this way, so please use caution here.
Step 5 - Before you finish for the day, promote the product
using your "ad 1" for each product.
You'll need to record:
Impressions. If you're advertising on a web page, this will be
the number of times your ad appeared on the page - or the number
of times the page was viewed if your ad comes up each time the
page is viewed. If you're advertising using some form of email,
impressions = number of emails sent.
Clicks. You should be able to get this from the affiliate
program you are promoting.
Amount Earned. Again, your affiliate program should provide
this information to you in real time.
Now, in order to do a valid test, you'll need to promote to a
fairly significant number of people. I would recommend that at
least 300 people see each ad. Otherwise, you won't have enough
information to make a valid judgment. Ideally, you should hit
about 2,000 with each ad, but your resources may not allow for
this.
*Learning point: If you're going to send an ad via a
newsletter, see if you can run a "split". That is, get one ad
sent to 1/2 of the list and another sent to the other 1/2. That
is the most accurate way to compare the effectiveness of any
pair of ads.
**Day 2**
Step 6 - Run your "B" ads. Now that you have run your "A" ads
and have given them a bit of time to take effect, run your B
ads. Do this first thing this morning!
By the end of the day, you should have some good results from
both campaigns to compare and see where you stand.
By comparing and analyzing all of the information you have just
compiled, you will be able to start to have a good idea about:
a. Which product seems to sell more.
b. Which type of campaign is most effective
c. Which type of ad for each campaign is most effective
This short bit of testing won't allow you to make clear
conclusions, but it will put you on the right track.
Immediately, you should start using the ads that *sell* as much
as you can. If ad A is making you 5 cents per impression and ad
B is making you 5 dollars per impression - using ad B just
increased your affiliate commissions by 9900%! OK, that's a
dramatic example, but you get the point, right? If you aren't
tracking these things, you'll never know. If you track and
continue to refine, before you know it, you'll have an arsenal
of ads that you know pull well, and you can use them over and
over again. Once you do the leg work, it's easy!
As you see, though, this can get quite complex. How does one
actually analyze these campaigns? What if you have scores of
affiliate programs and quite a few campaigns for each?
Don't worry. As I told you at the beginning, there is an easy,
cost effective way to keep track of all of these things with
just a few mouse clicks. It's called Affiliate Assistant:
I highly recommend checking this out as it will, among other
things, allow you to quickly and easily implement the above plan
in one central location. With just a few mouse clicks you can
compare and analyze all of your various affiliate ad campaigns
so you'll know which are making you money and which are wasting
you time.
You could do all of the same things yourself with a good
database program and multiple spreadsheets, but Affiliate
Assistant will save you quite a bit of time and money without
having to go through all that.
Either way, you should implement some type of organizational and
tracking plan like this for your affiliate advertising efforts
immediately. The amount of time you put into this will pay off
exponentially in terms of higher commissions.

Surfing for pay this week:
The Lion roars again. AllAdvantage has been sending out
invitations to past members who have not surfed lately
to come download the latest version of the ViewBar software.
You will find it is a pretty good upgrade and the one click
download process makes it fairly simple to install. BUT the
BIG news this week is the continued spread of active users.
Surfers in the following list of countries should now be able
to download the software and earn money: Australia, Austria,
Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy,
Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.
More good news as the GetPaid4 software has been updated,and
although it is a bit bigger than before, the new software is
more stable. Bad news, is that the stats continue to change.
The first time I checked, I showed only 400 active surfers on
my first line for February. Later that number dropped to about
half that amount, but more active surfers showed up in lower
levels. Meaning? This is still beta, and it appears that they
are not quite ready for primetime.
Perhaps the strongest software package is not widely available,
the PaysU program. Nothing but praise can be heard about the
stability and functionality of the software. Wish I had stood
in line for the beta to be able to tell you how good it is in
person, but I am hoping we can all test it together soon. In
the meanwhile, I have been enjoying the daily trivia quiz on
the site (maybe helped by the fact I am starting to get the
answers right sometimes now.) That may be inspired by the other
UK import, the "Who wants to be a Millionaire" show, which I
will admit I watch too often <g>. Can't be online all the time,
can I? PaysStart, which pays me to hit the page up to 70 times
a day, which I cannot do, still holds my interest too. Like
Ignifuge, which pays for 10 visits per day, it is a good
jumping off point as I move from site to site. Ignifuge will
not be releasing January rates until February 21, 2000. Let's
hope that is due to growth and not something else.
Meanwhile, ClickDough continues to impress. Yes the
software-less solution does get messed up a bit once in a while,
but overall I like it, and I like the way statistics are
presented. Even with a "push to the front" attitude which brings
the banner to the top of whatever window and is a bother
sometimes, the unlimited surf time argues in favor of using it.
Downline use shows an average of about 5 hours surfed per user.
Could be better, but I am seeing worse in more "established"
programs. I still like ClickDough a lot, and suggest you get
on board. This was the program that incorporates X.com into
the payment system, and that will let you offer your recruits
$20 free to start, which is also better than many programs
I am using.
Process Tree, the program that wants to harness your computer's
processing power during slow times, says they now have about
4800 members and nearly 7500 computers in the work collective.
No news yet on when this program will take off, but in the FAQs,
there is an indication that this program could pay as much as
$4/day. This is still one to watch in my mind because I know
that the SETI program uses the same concept for free. Getting
work done for pay is a bit more complicated, but not much.
Elsewhere, GoToWorld has released a much smaller browser and
there is still a contest for referrals. Who cares.
Also elsewhere, Utopiad is promising to pick out 5 members who
bring in 5 or more new members for a $100 prize. It is still not
an exciting earn rate however, so that may be hard to do unless
you find people who will join everything at one.
Still elsewhere, Piggy from ValuePay should be fully released by
now according to the web site. Since it is not, it brings into
question much of the other promises on that site.
Spedia continues to do poorly by its members. Latest gripe?
When you play games at the site, you are not credited properly
for the points you win. The software still needs to go on a RAM
diet. QoolCoins has still not sent the free long-distance cards
I bought at their auction. I will keep you informed. Good thing
I didn't have the winning bid for the car <g>.
Be careful, whylook.com is a "paid for search" program that will
install software that may cause problems with your Internet
Explorer software. Those who have tried it have already
uninstalled it. Let's leave this one alone.

Developing a Marketing Strategy That
Will Earn You $3000.00 (or more) From
Associate Programs!

Associate Program (APs)) are the hottest moneymaking
opportunity available today. Easy to join, you can be up
and running within an hour.
Despite the ease of joining, however, most AP members never
make any profit. In one program from which I earn (on
average) $3,000.00 monthly. I have also recruited 75
associates to join this program. What I recently discovered
is that 68 of them HAVE NEVER made a sale.
This article is written to help those who have never earned
profit. I will introduce five of the essential marketing
strategies you must adopt NOW to earn big profits from
Associate Programs.

Pre-sell Your Product
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most APs provided its Associates with a free website
complete with all the essential elements of a effective
online sales presentation (sales letter, testimonials, free
bonuses, order processing, guarantees, etc.) If this
material is well crafted, it will result in the conversion
of a large percentage of your site visitors into product
buyers (called the CR or conversion rate).
You can increase your CR if you learn how to *pre-sell the
product* before people visit the main site. As an owner and
advocate of product X, you are in a position to provide a
personal endorsement - the single most effective strategy
for successful AP marketing.
There are several ways to share this endorsement. You ought
to begin by creating several "pre-sell pages" on your own
domain that contain your endorsement. You should also be
prepared to share your endorsements with your opt-in email
list. Both of these topics will be addressed in a moment.
Once you've got your "pre-sell page" you need to get traffic
to your site. Without traffic there will be no sales. The
trick is to attract the right kind of traffic - people who
visit your site interested in what you are selling.
Suppose I market a company the best tasting doggie bone ever
developed. What would be better: attracting 1 million cat
lovers to my site or 5,000 dog lovers. In this case bigger
is not better!
This is why you must create your own "pre-sell pages." It
allows you to build pages that are indexed by the search
engines using different search criteria that will allow you
to target a particular niche market.
Suppose you are selling a product that helps people write a
more persuasive sales letter. What niche market can you
address that needs such knowledge? Right now I am preparing
a marketing plan geared toward the clergy - many of whom are
called upon to writes letter to raise funds for various
ministry endeavors. Most have no clue how to write those
letter- but I have a product that can help!

Prove Your Worth

The Internet is fill with many scams and shams. People need
proof that they are not being "taken for a ride."
My best selling AP recently introduced a free e-book that
they could easily sell for $50-$100. It is being given
away, however, to prove the worth of the main program.
Do same thing for you program? Write an informative article
about the subject addressed by your program. Include a link
to your "pre-sell page" in your resource box. Submit it to
Ezine editors for possible publication. This strategy works!

Position Yourself Above Your Competitors
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why should a person buy from you rather than one of your
competitors? You need to provide them a compelling answer
to this question. You must create an offer (within the
guidelines of your AP rules) that will convince somebody buy
from you.
Do some inventory. Explore what you can offer that you
fellow associates can't provide. Perhaps you can give them
a product you've created and sell as a free bonus when they
buy from you. It might even be possible for you to use a
portion of your profits to "gift" them into another program
or business you represent. Maybe you can offer a 30-minute
consultation in a field of expertise.
Suppose you market a product that pays you a $100.00
commission each sale. Also suppose you get five sales per
month - or $500.00. Next imagine that your bonus will cost
you $20.00 per sale--but net you five additional sales!
Which would you prefer: 5 x $100 or 10 x $80? Now if you
selected the first option, please unplug your modem and turn
off your computer. :)

Publish Follow Up Marketing Materials

Recently I got this note from one of my Ezine subscribers:

endorsement of *product X.* Several times I visited your
site - but never paid for the program. In your last
message, however, something clicked and I went right over to
place my order. Now I am writing just to say thanks for
pointing me in the right direction!"
This note reveals several important marketing lessons you'll
need to learn to succeed in online marketing!
1) You need to have several ads and endorsement ready for
each product you represent. Marketing is an ongoing
process, not a one shot deal!
